Development of the electricity network
We are continuously developing the electricity network in our area by replacing overhead power lines with underground cables and increasing automation within the grid. This is how we can improve the reliability of electricity distribution, and effectively reduce both the number and duration of power outages.
MAintenance and development
The length of the Vaasan Sähköverkko distribution network is approximately 7,300 kilometers. Maintaining and developing the network is important, as it serves not only households but also businesses and other societal functions, such as hospitals and the industry.
At the same time, our work lays the foundation for the comprehensive development of society, including the electrification of transport. In addition to network development, an essential part of the service we provide is the effective management of disruptions. Every year, hundreds of new properties are also connected to the electricity network.
One way to reduce the impact of storm winds and thunderstorms on the electricity network is to convert overhead lines into underground cables. Cabling projects are progressing rapidly in the Vaasan Sähköverkko area. These projects have had a clear effect on the security of electricity supply.
Development plan every other year
Every other year, we prepare a development plan. During this process, we also gather opinions from our stakeholders. The development plan 2024 is available in Finnish and Swedish.
In the plan, we present how the development of society is reflected in our area of responsibility and how the network is developed to meet various needs as cost-effectively as possible. The plan has been prepared at the request of the Energy Authority.
