Transfer electricity connection to a new owner
Transferring the electricity connection to a new owner becomes relevant when the ownership of a property, such as a detached house or summer cottage, changes. In blocks of flats and terraced houses the connection is owned by the housing company.
Transfer the ownership of the electricity connection
In connection with a real estate purchase, you can notify us of the change of ownership by sending us a copy of the deed of sale stating that the electricity connection will have a new owner, or by filling in the form for Transfer of electricity connection contract and attaching it to the notification of change of ownership.
The transfer can also be made by filling in the form below. Both the old and new owners should sign the form. The electricity connection is considered movable property and therefore it is not automatically transferred to the new property owner.
Don’t forget to make a new electricity contract with the electricity supplier of your choice for your new home. Your current electricity contract will not be transferred in connection with the change of ownership of the electricity connection.
Change of ownership of a death estate’s electricity connection
When the transfer of an electricity connection contract is done by a death estate, it should be signed by all the partners of the estate. In addition to the form, we need a copy of the pages of the estate inventory, which states the co-owners of the estate and the property ownership.
If the electricity connection is not mentioned in the transfer deed of the property, it can be transferred with a separate transfer form (in Finnish).
