Changes to the electricity connection
My electricity consumption has increased – do I need to make changes to my connection? My electricity connection is no longer necessary – what should I do? Can I put my electricity connection on hold? On this page, you will find the answers to these questions.
Changes to the electricity connection
When changes need to be made to an electricity connection, this can mean measures such as upgrading or dismantling the connection, or putting the connection in maintenance (in other words, disabling it temporarily).
If you need to make changes to your electricity connection, you can make a change request via OmaLiittymä (service currently available in Finnish and Swedish). You should note that changes can affect the cost and timing of electricity distribution, so planning and anticipation are key to ensuring a smooth process.
As a customer, you can make a change request to upgrade or dismantle your connection, or to put your connection in maintenance. For other connection changes, please contact your electricity contractor.
Upgrading the connection
If your electricity use increases, you may need a larger electricity connection. To increase your connection right, which is the maximum main fuses allowed, you can place an order via our OmaLiittymä service (currently available in Finnish and Swedish).
You can check with your electrical contractor whether you need to upgrade the size of the connection. Your electrical contractor will also do the necessary modifications to the main switchboard and the connection cable, as well as the installation of larger fuses.
You need to conclude an additional connection contract for upgrading the electricity connection. If necessary, we will reinforce the electricity network up to the point of connection. With an additional connection contract, we will indicate the connection point and the delivery time for upgrading the connection.
For upgrading the main fuse box in a zonal tariff area, the difference between the old and the new fuse box will be charged as a connection fee according to the current price list. See our price list.
Putting a connection in maintenance
You can put your electricity connection in maintenance, disabling it temporarily, if your property’s electricity needs are ending until further notice, but you want to keep your electricity connection for future use.
When the connection is put in maintenance, we disconnect the electricity supply and remove the electricity meter. We will charge fees for putting the connection in maintenance and for subsequent reconnection in accordance with the service price list. When the connection is on hold, we will charge a monthly maintenance fee. You can see the maintenance fees for the size of your connection in the service price list. The connection is disconnected and placed in maintenance within one month of the order.
When you want to reconnect your connection after it has been in maintenance, contact your electrical contractor. They will order the installation of the electricity meter and the reconnection of the connection from us. At that time, your electricity system will need to meet current standards, meaning that we have free access to the metering installation and the connection cable is underground.
Dismantling a connection
Dismantling an electricity connection may become necessary if the property no longer needs electricity and there will be no need for it in the future. You can order the dismantling of the connection using the form below.
When the electricity connection is dismantled, we will conclude an agreement to terminate the connection contract. After that, we disconnect the electricity supply and remove the electricity meter. If necessary, we also dismantle the electricity network.
When dismantling the connection, we will refund any refundable part of the connection contract, minus the cost of dismantling. The connection will be dismantled within one month of termination.
If the old connection has been dismantled and the property needs electricity in the future, you must conclude a new contract for the new connection and pay a connection fee, in accordance with our connection fee price list.
