Clearing of network areas

A tree in the vicinity of a power line can cause life-threatening situations in its immediate environment. We clear network areas to avoid dangerous situations.

Clearing of network areas in the distribution area of Vaasan Sähköverkko

In 2025, we will clear in the following areas:

  • Medium-voltage power lines: Vörå/Vöyri and Replot/Raippaluoto
  • Low-voltage lines: Replot/Raippaluoto, Kvevlax/Koivulahti, Hankmo and Veikars/Veikkaala

Trees and residues from the clearing belong to the property owner and are left on the property.

Here’s how we clear:

  1. We let professional forest workers take care of the clearing. They clear according to our instructions.
  2. In each individual area, we clear every six years so that the vegetation near power lines does not get too high.
  3. A low-voltage line needs a protection zone of about one meter. That type of power lines can also be found in your yard. Power lines with higher voltage require a larger protection area. Around 20 kilovolt lines, we clear a protection zone of 2.65* meters. Under such lines, tall trees or bushes must not grow. These types of lines can also be found in private yards.
  4. When we’ve finished clearing, we leave behind branches, twigs and trees. By law, they belong to the landowner and therefore they are also the responsibility of the landowner.

    * The protection zone is over 4 meters for fruit trees. A 20 kilovolt line has a 10-meter-wide power line area.
