Vaasan Sähköverkko provides different electricity distribution products. You get the most out of your distribution product by choosing it to best suit your electricity use – and you’ll also avoid paying unnecessary fees.
Electricity distribution products
General electricity
- Suitable for detached houses with electric heating
- Same price regardless of time of day
- Also suitable for blocks of flats and terraced houses, and holiday homes
- The most common electricity metering method
Night-rate electricity
- Two rates: daytime and night-time
- Ideal for properties with high night-time electricity use
- Suitable for detached houses with electric heating
- The more you shift your consumption to night-time, the more you save
Season-rate electricity
- Suitable for properties with high electricity use during summertime
- Two rates: winter weekdays and other times
- Winter weekdays include November 1–March 31
Changing electricity distribution product
Switching your electricity distribution product may be necessary if there are significant changes in your electricity consumption habits and your current product is no longer the most affordable option. This can happen, for example, if your electricity consumption decreases or if most of your usage shifts to a different time of day.
You can change your distribution product once per year. The switch is free of charge.
The change will be made within 30 days of notification. Changes are not made retroactively. If you need to change your fuse size, please contact your own electrical contractor.

When should you choose general electricity?
General electricity is suitable for homes without electric heating or with low electricity use that mainly occurs during the day. The price of general electricity does not depend on the time of day or season.
Typical general electricity sites include apartments in apartment buildings and terraced houses, detached houses heated with oil, wood, or geothermal energy, and vacation homes.
When should you choose night-rate electricity?
Night-rate electricity is suitable for electric heating users and properties with high night-time electricity consumption. Night-rate electricity has two energy prices: day and night rates. The more you can shift your consumption to night-time, the more you save.
Night-rate electricity is intended for customers whose metering is based on a night/day division.
Vaasan Sähköverkko uses the following time divisions for night-time electricity:
- Daytime electricity: 7:00 AM–10:00 PM
- Night-time electricity: 10:00 PM–7:00 AM
Storage electric heating is turned on randomly between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM according to Fingrid Oyj’s recommendation. However, the night-time electricity rate applies for everyone starting from 10:00 PM. Storage electric heating is turned off randomly between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. The night-time electricity rate concludes for all customers at 7:00 AM.
When should you choose season-rate electricity?
Season-rate electricity is suitable for properties with high electricity usage, especially during the summer. Seasonal electricity has two energy rates: winter weekdays and all other times.
Season-rate electricity is intended for customers whose metering is based on a winter weekdays/other times division.
Vaasan Sähköverkko uses the following time divisions:
- Winter weekdays: November 1–March 31, Mon–Sat 7:00 AM–10:00 PM
- Other times: Electricity used at all other times
